ALiCE is the largest Portuguese Associate Laboratory in the area of Chemical Engineering, with more than 400 researchers, 50% of which with PhD, who over the past 20 years have contributed to consolidate a relevant international position in the Chemical Engineering field (top-1, 20 and 100 at national, European and World level, respectively, according to well-known and different rankings).

The Management Institutions of ALiCE are the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP) and the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (IPLeiria).
The main location of ALiCE is the Department of Chemical Engineering at FEUP, which provides the infrastructure for the development of ALiCE’s activity.
