(LEPABE)
PROFILE
Arminda Alves obtained the PhD in Chemical Engineering in 1992 and since 2014 she is Full Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). She is Director of the Associate Laboratory in Chemical Engineering – ALiCE, since 2021, which is a consortium of the three main research centers in chemical engineering in Portugal (LEPABE, CEFT and LSRE-LCM), with more than 400 researchers. She was the former Director of LEPABE (2013-2023) and Director of the Chemical Engineering Department (2010-2018). For the past 20 years, she has been an integrated researcher at LEPABE, holding a relevant track record, with H-index of 50. Her scientific research has been devoted to enhancing analytical methods for monitoring emergent compounds (phytochemicals, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, and new generation industrial chemicals) that impact human health and the safety of food products and natural resources, using high-resolution chromatographic techniques, conducting exposure risk assessments, developing alternative processes for the degradation or removal of contaminated environmental matrices.
